Old and New

Hello!

Today I made a card to participate in the Retro Rubber Challenge. The theme is May Flowers.  Click on the link to play along.

The stamp set I used today is called Field Flowers.  I believe this Stampin' Up! stamp was first released in 2011  and retired in 2014.  I also used En Francais (2007) and Happy Watercolor (2014). That tiny sentiment, which I really love because of the size, is from an old  Sale-A-Bration called  Happy Moments.

I love this challenge because I go back to view my older stamps to select one to use for the challenge. I feel that I don't get enough use out of many of my stamps.  This challenge allows me to re-visit and use the images again.,

Here is my submission for the challenge:

I named this post "Old and New".  The stamps sets are old, but I used the brand new Stampin' Up! in-color, Sweet Sugarplum.  This will be available on June 1, 2016.

The Field Flowers is a 2 step stamp set.  I used Sweet Sugarplum for the first part stamp on the flower blossoms.  The second color on the blossoms is Rich Razzleberry.  The background was stamped with SU Tip Top Taupe,

You Are My Sunshine

Hello.  It is a snowy Saturday in Rhode Island today,  Luckily, we are not getting as much snow as the states to our south,  I enjoy a snow day.

Today I am participating in the Retro Rubber card challenge.

RRCB 30

Here is my card

I used an old SU stamp set called "You Are My Sunshine"  2001.

I bought this set used from a co-worker when I was trying to learn how to stamp.  This is actually the first time I used it!

The "thank you" sentiment is from a Stampin' Up!  Sale a Bration set called Happy Moments.   This is my favorite tiny sentiment stamp set.  I used it frequently.

PPA Sketch Challenge

Follow the link to Pals Paper Arts for this week's challenge:

I used Soft Sky as the card base with a vellum layer.
Using the By the Tide stamp set, the sea plant is stamped directly on the vellum with Pear Pizzazz, and the shell is stamped on Naturals White with Smokey Slate and fussy cut.

The driftwood was stamped with the  Hardwood stamp with Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand and then fussy cut into a driftwood shape.

The sentiment is from Another Thank You, punched with the Large Oval punch and slipped under the vellum.

Thanks Sew Much

This is a card submission for The Paper Players sketch challenge.

The stamp set is Stitches from Mama Elephant.

Ink is Stampin' Up! Blackberry Bliss

DSP is SU Park Lane

I have been doing more stitching than stamping lately, hence this card. I really miss the paper and ink but it is so hard to do it all!  Someday, when I retire...

PPA 218

These are the colors for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge
(follow the link to play)

My technique for these cards was to stamp the sentiment and then heat emboss, white on white.  I then stamped the inks over the sentiment and then wiped off any residual ink on the embossing with a paper towel.

I think this creates a simple, but special, design.

The "thread" in the button holes is a very thin piece of Blackberry Bliss card stock.

I Cannot Thank You Enough

One of the best deals around is Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Paper Stacks. I used the Moonlight collection for the background DSP on this card. There are 48 sheets in a stack; 4 each of 12 double sided designs, measuring 4.25 X 6.5. All this for $6.95. Check it out on page 185 in the catalog.

A Simple Thank You

Here is a very simple Thank You card made with two stamps; Watercolor Thank You and Blended Bloom.

This is a fun card if you like to color.  I find coloring to be very relaxing. I used the Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities.  Below is a video that describes coloring with the blendabilities

Just Sayin'

It's a Beach theme challenge over at The Paper Players

Here's the link to play:

I used colors that remind me of the beach:  Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Lost Lagoon.

I tend to go quick and simply, so here is my one layer card for this challenge.

I sponged a 3.75' X 5" piece of Whisper White card stock with Pool Party.  I stamped the plants with Coastal Cabana, and stamped the Fish and the word bubble with Lost Lagoon.  All the images are from SU By the Tide.

This card was inspired by Big Mouth Billy Bass.

PPA 210

We have a color challenge this week.  The colors are Basic Gray, Lost Lagoon and Pool Party.

PPA210 Basic Gray Lost Lagoon Pool Party

Follow the link to play:   Pals Paper Arts

I cut a piece of Basic Gray card stock 3.75" X 5" and ran it through the Big Shot using the Lovely Lace embossing folder.  I also embossed another scrap of Basic Gray and using the Scallop Circle punched out a portion of one of the larger embossed designs.  If you don't have the scallop circle punches, any flower punches, plain circles or framelits will work just as well.  Now that Iam thinking about this, I'll bet the Hearts or Stars framelits would work also, (Note to self for future designs!)

The rest of this design is self explanatory.  All products Stampin' Up!  Happy Stamping!
