Pumpkin Pie Peacock

Not a fan of coloring?  Love to fussy cut (when it is an easy cut)?

Well, have I got a project for you!  Here is my Pumpkin Pie Peacock.  Yes, I know, you've never seen a pumpkin colored peacock, but we're artists, we are allowed artistic license, right?
So here it is:

What I did was stamp the Perfect peacock image on this pumpkin colored DSP from the Sweet Taffy collection, using memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The card is sitting on the DSP I used.

Here is a close-up of the stamped DSP:

I also stamped the image on a 4.25" X 11"  piece of Whisper White card stock scored at 5.5".

Then I snipped the tail and wing feathers and paper pieced to the image on the white card stock using the Tombo glue. I cut on the outline of the feathers and let the tendrils show through from the image that was stamped on the white card stock.  The secret to paper snipping is a good pair of paper snips.  You need a pair (like the ones below) with ground tips that cut all the way to the end of the blade.  It makes paper snipping and fussy cutting a breeze.

Of course, then there was some coloring of the leaves and flowers with the blendabilities.  I took a few artistic liberties there also.  So, of course, now I am on the lookout for other DSPs to use so that this Perfect Peacock can shake a mean tail feather!

Cool Technique Alert

Faux Silk Technique

Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Patsy Waggoner, demonstrated this Faux Silk Technique this week.  I tried it and loved it, so I wanted to share Patsy's video with you .  Maybe you'll want to give it a try.  Here is the link to her YouTube Video:

Bleach is "IN"

Have you noticed that bleaching  is being showcased lately?

Here is my submission for the PPA153 sketch challenge



I used Confetti Cream (retired) card stock but you could easily substitute Naturals Ivory or Very Vanilla.  I "bleached" the Early Espresso card stock using the Stamp set Just Believe.  The sentiment is from Curly Cute.  I stamped Happy Birthday twice; once in Early Espresso ink and then stamped over the sentiment with Illuminate ink. 

I sponged the Confetti Cream with Soft Suede. The button is from the Spring Catalog Artisan Embellishments Kit (wish I had more of those buttons!) and I sponged the button a little too.

There's a little piece of Early Espresso tulle ribbon tied with the Natural Linen Thread under that button.  Another version of this card has a different button treatment for a more masculine effect.  This one uses the Brushed Bronze Button.

Most of the card stock edges have been distressed a bit.

Dryer Sheet Technique

I have seen this technique on some card samples at shows and thought I would give it a try.  The idea is to create your card and then using a glue stick right on the image, glue a used dryer sheet on your design.  

All products are Stampin' Up!.  I used the Affection Collection stamp set, Midnight Muse ink and Very Vanilla and (retired) Crushed Curry Card Stock.  The DSP is from Comfort Cafe .  I machine stitched the layers to the card stock.  A few pearls finished the design.
