Fall Tile Trivet

This week the Paper Players theme challenge is anything bit a card!  I love it!  

Here is my entry. 

 This is a 5.75 X 5.75 square tile that I purchased at Lowe's.  I stamped the background with SU retired French Script.  I then stamped the leaves with SU Gently Falling stamp set using Early Espresso ink.  I colored the leaves with water color pencils.  I used a little bit of SU Dazzling Details here and there on the leaves.  I then sprayed the whole tile with Creative Imaginations Super Seal which seals and waterproofs.

Gingham Garden

Here is a super quick project:  Cover a Composition Notebook with some Designer Series Paper (DSP) to make yourself a special notebook.  I will use this one at work for meeting notes.  Stampin' Up!'s new DSP Gingham Garden will brighten up my office for spring.


Just cut the DSP the size of your notebook cover and glue to the front and back.  Before you place the binding on the side of the notebook add some ribbon for a bookmark.  I used Stampin' Up! Island Indigo.

I used some of SU's Gingham Garden Washi Tape to decorate the Binding.  There you have it-quick and simple!

May Breakfast

We are having a May Breakfast for our office suite on Wednesday.  I volunteered to bring paper goods: napkins, paper plates, etc.   I also decided to use up some retired card stock.  This DSP is Raspberry Lemonade from a few seasons ago.

I made a boxful. These little May Baskets are recycled toilet paper rolls I cased from Angie Juda.  Here is her video with the instructions:

I like to re-purpose boxes.  Often times  I receive gifts of perfumes or bath and body products that come in wonderful boxes that are too worthwhile to be thrown away.  I save them and re-cover them with cardstock and DSP and use them as keepsake boxes.  Today, I am going to show you how I re-purposed a very simple, everyday box.  I have re-purposed a tea box.  This can be used as a special gift box to hold homemade truffles, fudge ,cookies or you could put the tea bags back in it and surprise your gift recipient with a custom covered tea box.. The contents are up to you.  So I started with an empty tea box. 

It was no coincidence that I chose Stampin' Up!'s Comfort Cafe DSP to cover my Tension Tamer tea box.  I couldn't resist!  Using a 12"X12" piece of DSP, I cut a piece that measured 5 and 3/8" by 11 and 3/4".  I scored at 2 1/2, 5 5/8, 8 1/16, and 11 1/8.  The sides measure 5 1/2 by 3 1/8  and 4 1/2 by 3 1/8.  Compare these measurments to your particular box for accuracy .    I used SU Anywhere Glue Stick all over the box to adhere the DSP. 

I trimmed the paper around the flaps with my paper snips.

 The Tombo Multi purpose glue was great to cover the back corners with with SU Crochet Trim Victoria.  I decorated the back with a little of that lace too.

I made the flower on top using the SU Fancy Flower Punch.  The center is a flower from the 5/8 Flower Trim on page 5 of the Spring catalog.   The rest of the trim is SU Very Vanilla card stock. The sentiment is from SU Best of Birthdays.   Also used was the Scallop Edge Border Punch and the 3/4" Circle Punch for the little cut-out in the front of the box..

So, think twice next time before you throw away a perfectly good, recyclable box.  Save the Planet.

PPA 130 A Trivet in Green

For the color challenge I used a 5.5 inch square tile that I bought at Lowe's Home Improvement store. 

I then directly applied ink by rubbing the ink pad over the whole tile.  I then took the darker artichoke green and applied that to the Hello, Doily stamp (Stampin' Up!) and stamped the image on the tile.

Then using black I stamped the Sentiment "Memories" from Stampin' Up!'s Loving Thoughts stamp set.

I used the "Memories" sentiment because the doily looks faded on the tile, almost as if it is a memory.

I then spray the tile with a few coats of ci Super Seal, an ozone friendly acrylic sealant spray that dries in less than 2 minutes.  It seals and waterproofs the trivet.

The finishing touch is four little stick-on protective pads  (for the feet) that I get at the dollar store.  It works great as a candle base or a hot plate for a bowl.
